Farming is a Craft, Not a Commodity.

Consider hens are raised on small farms according to Certified Humane® standards: free to roam on open pastures, living in symbiosis with diverse species of pollinators, animals, and plants. Our farmers are stewards of the land, committed to healing our soil and our food system and guided by the holistic principles of regenerative agriculture:

Hands-on care makes for a better egg.

The quality of Consider Pastures eggs is a direct result of the treatment that our hens receive and the free, fulfilling life they lead. Our hens are:

  • Raised on small family farms that take a hands-on approach to animal care, unlike massive factory farms
  • Certified Humane® Pasture-Raised with a minimum of 108 square feet of rotational pasture per hen
  • Given daily access to grassy pasture ripe for foraging, scratching, dust bathing, and exhibiting other instinctual behaviors
  • Sheltered in spacious coops free of cages where each hen can enjoy an endless supply of supplemental feed, fresh water, and safety from predators and inclement weather

Our farmers leave their land better than they found it.

Some call it regenerative agriculture. Others call it place-based farming. Whatever you call it, it’s all about considering what’s around you. At Consider Pastures, we believe that giving back to the earth is paramount to farming responsibly. Our farms follow these principles:

  • Zero use of pesticides and inorganic fertilizers
  • No deep tilling or fallow rotation to help protect soil from erosion and nutrient loss
  • Increasing organic matter, soil health, and carbon sequestration through strategic use of cover crops
  • Multi-species livestock integration
  • Planting and encouraging the spread of geographically-appropriate wildflowers to assist in pollinator health
  • Installation of bat houses as natural pest control
